Notably, seven of the injured individuals are under the age of 20, and the youngest among them is just 16 years old; this was highlighted by Montgomery Police Chief Jim Graboys during a press conference held on Sunday to address the incident.
In light of these developments, an immediate reward of $50,000 has been announced by the authorities for any information leading to the apprehension of those responsible. Despite the horror of the event, Mayor Steven Reed insisted that the city remains safe, stating, "We aren’t going to let one or two bad apples spoil the bunch. We are going to find the ones that are rotten and we are going to get them the hell out of here." The mayor expressed grave concern over the willingness of individuals to shoot in a bustling area, particularly near law enforcement officers. "When you have people who are willing to draw down in a crowded area with police officers within short distances, I’m not sure that those people can be reacclimated to our society," he remarked.
